AI startup Anthropic's revenue surged 1,360% to $11.5B in one quarter
Leaked investor documents show the Claude chatbot maker's Q2 2026 revenue jumped to more than $11.5 billion, up from $787 million a year earlier.
Anthropic, the artificial intelligence startup behind the Claude chatbot, reported preliminary quarterly revenue of more than $11.5 billion in the second quarter of 2026, a 1,360% surge from $787 million in the same period a year earlier, according to documents shown to prospective investors ahead of a planned initial public offering.
The figures come from a Nairametrics report citing documents obtained by Bloomberg News, which described Anthropic's preliminary Q2 revenue of more than $11.5 billion compared with $787 million in Q2 2025 and $4.73 billion in the first quarter of this year. The Business Times reported the same figures, noting the Claude chatbot maker's revenue "jumped at least 14-fold versus the same period a year ago."
Deliberations over the numbers remain ongoing, and the figures are preliminary and subject to revision, according to Fortune. No official audited financials or regulatory filing has been lodged, and no listing venue has been announced.
The Q2 figure marks a dramatic acceleration even against Anthropic's already steep growth curve. The company's annualized run-rate revenue grew from $87 million at the start of 2024 to over $5 billion by August 2025, and crossed $30 billion by April 2026, according to VentureBeat. Anthropic leadership has attributed the growth largely to enterprise demand for Claude models distributed through cloud platforms including AWS and Google Cloud.
For African and Nigerian developers and enterprises, Anthropic's trajectory sets a new benchmark for what is possible in AI platform economics. The company's reported scale — first positive adjusted operating income alongside $30 billion-plus annualized revenue run rates — signals how quickly foundational model providers are consolidating value, with implications for cloud dependence, data sovereignty, and local AI strategy as regulators draft cross-border AI frameworks. Nairametrics has tracked Anthropic since at least January 2025, when Google committed an additional $1 billion to the company.
The Polymarket account on X amplified the figures, posting: "JUST IN: Anthropic's quarterly revenue surged +1,360% year over year to more than $11.5 billion in Q2." Commentary under the post showed confusion and skepticism about how to reconcile the quarterly figure with previously reported annualized run rates as high as $74 billion, with some users describing earlier estimates as "completely wrong."
Anthropic has yet to make a formal public filing with securities regulators in the United States or elsewhere. The IPO remains described as planned or potential, based on investor-facing documents rather than public submissions, leaving the timing and structure of any listing unresolved.
