Emmanuel Jago Steps Down as PalRemit’s VP of Growth After Nearly Four Years
Emmanuel Jago has announced that he is stepping down as Vice President of Growth at PalRemit, bringing to an end a journey that lasted close to four years.
His departure marks the end of an important chapter for the Nigerian fintech, where he helped build the company’s growth strategy from its earliest days.
Jago joined PalRemit as a founding team member while the product was still being developed. At the time, the company had no growth department, no established strategy, and no proof that the business model would succeed. He said he believed strongly in the company’s vision of making cross-border money transfers easier and more reliable for people in Nigeria and the diaspora.
According to Jago, he spent more than a year working on the business without receiving financial compensation because he believed in its long-term potential. That commitment later became part of PalRemit’s growth story as the company expanded its customer base and strengthened its position in the cross-border payments market.
During his time at the company, PalRemit grew to more than 100,000 registered users and processed over $100 million in transaction volume. The company achieved this with a lean team and limited resources, showing how focused execution can drive growth in a competitive fintech market.
Jago also highlighted several milestones achieved under his leadership. The company recorded more than 30,000 verified users while maintaining a transaction rate of between 25 and 30 percent across user groups. PalRemit also onboarded 16 fully verified businesses that actively use the platform for transactions.
Beyond customer growth, Jago led the team to a top-three finish in a $200,000 startup grant competition. He also represented PalRemit in the Stellar Go-To-Market Programme, where the company finished among the top three teams in the global cohort. These achievements helped increase the company’s visibility within the global fintech ecosystem.
He said one of the most rewarding parts of the journey was helping define PalRemit’s message to the market alongside a team committed to protecting the money that Nigerians and members of the diaspora work hard to earn.
Looking ahead, Jago said he is leaving the role to focus on consulting projects, his other businesses, and expanding the Lazy Rich Genius Investment Community, an investment-focused platform he is building.
While stepping away from day-to-day operations, he expressed confidence in PalRemit’s future and thanked the team for their dedication throughout the journey. He also gave special appreciation to PalRemit founder Uzochukwu Mbamalu for inviting him to join the company at its early stage.
Jago said PalRemit will always remain an important part of his story, adding that he looks forward to seeing how the company continues to grow in the years ahead.
