United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc. is getting ready to host a very important event for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026. This special edition of their quarterly UBA Business Series is all about the modern African woman. The theme for this year is “gen w – ‘The Evolved Woman’.” It is a day to celebrate how far women have come and to help them grow even more in their careers and businesses.

The event will happen on Wednesday, March 12, 2026. It starts at 11:00 AM at UBA House in Lagos, Nigeria. You do not have to be there in person to join. The session will also be streamed live across all UBA digital platforms, and interested participants can register to attend virtually or in person via this link.

This edition of the Business Series is looking at women in a new way. Instead of just talking about basic needs, it focuses on a new generation of women. These are women who are not just looking for a job or a chance to work. They are women who are building their own companies and changing how business is done. The event will look at how women are leading big industries and deciding what success looks like for themselves.

A Powerhouse Lineup

The session features a curated panel of women who have turned personal vision into scalable reality:

  • Joycee Awosika:  Founder of ORÍKÌ Group; a leader in wellness and sustainable African branding.

  • Tomike Adeoye: Media personality and entrepreneur; a master of digital brand equity.

  • Olufunke Davies: Founder of Fine Funky, an expert in retail resilience and niche market growth.

  • Ayo Mario-Ese: Award-winning Broadcaster; a leading voice in communication and professional storytelling.

  • Tobi Bakre: This popular media star and actor will lead the talk as the host.

Alero Ladipo, UBA’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, emphasises that this initiative is a core part of UBA’s identity as a top-tier employer of 25,000 people group-wide. She notes that the "Evolved Woman" is bold and intentional. The bank’s commitment isn't just philanthropic; it’s economic. By equipping female leaders with practical tools for leadership and growth, UBA is investing in the very engine of African innovation.

Through this series, UBA continues to prove that financial inclusion is most effective when paired with knowledge sharing. This IWD, the focus is clear: Africa’s future is being written by women who have evolved beyond the glass ceiling and are now focused on the horizon.
