Moving money across borders in Africa has often been slow and expensive. Traditional banks use many middleman steps that can make a simple transaction take days and cost a lot in fees. Paga, a leading African payment company, is changing this by partnering with Sui, a high-speed blockchain platform.

The announcement was made by Tayo Oviosu, the head of Paga Group, during a major finance conference in Miami. The goal is to make moving money as easy and fast as sending a text message.

Paga has already built a massive network. In 2025 alone, the company handled over $11 billion in payments and served millions of people. Now, Paga is integrating the "Sui Dollar" (USDsui) into its system.

The Sui Dollar is a stablecoin. This is a digital currency that stays at the same value as the US Dollar. Because it is backed by safe assets like US Treasuries, it provides a stable way for people to hold value without worrying about local currency prices changing too quickly.

Paga chose Sui because it is built to handle a lot of transactions at once. It is fast, secure, and private. Tayo Oviosu explained that Sui fits their vision of "financial freedom." He wants Africans to be able to work for global companies, invest in global markets, and get paid without the usual headaches.

Adeniyi Abiodun, a co-founder of the team behind Sui, noted that Africa has a huge community of entrepreneurs and developers. By combining Paga’s 17 years of experience with Sui’s modern technology, they can build the financial tools the continent has been waiting for.

This partnership targets big problems. Currently, many people in Africa lose money because of inflation or high fees when sending money to other countries. By using the Sui blockchain, Paga can move money directly. This cuts out the middleman banks that usually slow things down and charge extra fees.

Beyond just payments, the partnership will allow Paga users to earn interest on their money through "real-world assets." This means a regular person or a small business owner can access investment opportunities that were previously only available to the wealthy.

Paga and Sui are not just launching a product, but they are building a foundation. They plan to create tools for other developers to build their own financial apps using this technology. This will help more African fintech companies grow and connect to the global economy.

By making Sui its primary blockchain, Paga is positioning itself at the front of the digital finance revolution in Africa. This move promises a future where financial borders matter less and economic opportunity is available to everyone.
