Storipod, a mobile microblogging and reading platform built for African creators, has announced a new partnership with Narrative Landscape Press, one of Nigeria’s leading publishers. This deal will bring books by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and other well‑known African writers to Storipod’s mobile platform. The move is part of Storipod’s push to make local content more available to readers across Africa and beyond.

For many African publishers, print books face big challenges. Distribution is weak, and the cost of buying physical books is often too high for many readers. At the same time, more people are consuming content on their phones. This shift has encouraged publishers and media outlets to look for digital solutions. By teaming up, Storipod and Narrative Landscape hope to meet readers where they already are, which is on mobile devices.

Eghosa Imasuen, co‑founder of Narrative Landscape Press, explained that the partnership reflects a shared goal: making African literature accessible to everyone, everywhere. Storipod’s platform is designed with this in mind. Instead of asking readers to pay for a full book upfront, it allows them to unlock chapters one at a time. This micropayment system lowers costs and fits well with mobile reading habits. Once unlocked, chapters remain in the reader’s digital library, ready to revisit anytime.

The first rollout will feature several high‑profile titles. These include Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, along with works by Chude Jideonwo, Adorah Nworah, Pede Hollist, Suyi Davies Okungbowa, and Nikki May. For Narrative Landscape, this partnership offers a digital route to global audiences while keeping control of intellectual property. This is important in an industry where piracy and weak enforcement have long hurt revenues.

Beyond distribution, the deal highlights a larger shift in African publishing. Publishers are now paying more attention to digital rights management and exploring new revenue models. These changes are driven by consumer behaviour, as more readers prefer digital access over print.

For Storipod, the partnership adds credibility and literary weight to its platform, which already hosts over 150,000 creators and is available in more than 170 countries. James Nelson, Storipod’s Founder and CEO, said the agreement sets a new standard for publishing in Africa. He emphasized that the platform’s model ensures creators are paid fairly for every tap, while aligning with modern reading habits.

The deal also rides on the growth of internet and smartphone use across Africa. In Nigeria, mobile devices account for over 80% of web traffic, with around 100 million internet users. Across the continent, smartphone penetration is expected to reach 700 million by 2026. With numbers like these, the partnership between Storipod and Narrative Landscape Press is not just timely, but it could reshape how African literature is shared and enjoyed in the digital age.
