Terra Industries to Launch Research Labs in Southeast Nigerian Universities

Terra Industries has announced a new initiative to support early-stage industrial startups and improve tech research in Nigeria. The company is joining the SCDCVC program as a limited partner.

Through this partnership, Terra Industries will invest in young companies developing practical solutions to Nigeria’s most pressing challenges in energy, security, and mining.

The CEO of Terra Industries, Nathan Nwachuku, said in his speech that solving deep industrial issues requires teamwork. No single company can fix these problems alone. Instead, it takes a whole community of builders, inventors, and leaders working together. By partnering with SADC, Terra Industries will find and support the brightest minds across the region to scale vital solutions.

Academic Infrastructure & Expansion

To build a sustainable "academia-industrial complex," Terra Industries announced plans to establish world-class research labs across key federal universities in Southeast Nigeria, including:

UNN (University of Nigeria, Nsukka)

FUTO (Federal University of Technology, Owerri)

Unizik (Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka)

These research labs are designed to accelerate the development of indigenous tech solutions addressing security, energy, and mining constraints.

Before detailing these new commitments, the speaker highlighted Terra Industries' established impact on the continent:

Geographic Reach: Active across 7 countries.

Asset Protection: Safeguarding over $40 billion worth of critical infrastructure, including mines, borders, and pipelines.

Defence Architecture: Functioning as an integral component of the continent's growing defence infrastructure.

With this new project, Terra Industries is expanding its focus from protecting infrastructure to actively funding the next generation of innovators. By providing both funding for startups and modern labs for universities, the company is helping to build a stronger technological foundation for Nigeria.
