The Cascador ScaleUp Program has officially opened applications for its 2026 cohort. This year, the initiative is working closely with Startup_South to ensure that business owners outside the major tech hubs receive the support they need to expand.
To kick off the recruitment cycle, Cascador and Startup_South hosted an Open House event on May 29 in Port Harcourt. Local business leaders, including the regional manager of the investment platform Risevest, attended the session to get direct guidance on how to navigate the application process.
What the Program Offers
Cascador is not a traditional, early-stage startup accelerator. Instead, it functions as a 12-week hybrid program tailored for companies that already have real market traction but need help building sustainable business structures.
The program admits only 12 business owners into each cohort. Those selected will participate in virtual training sessions and an intensive in-person residency in Lagos. Cascador covers the costs for travel, lodging, and meals during the in-person sessions.
The financial and operational perks for the chosen companies include:
A 5,000 USD personal development stipend for each participating business owner.
The chance to compete for a share of 50,000 USD in cash prizes on Pitch Day.
Direct access to apply for debt, equity, or guarantees through the Cascador Catalytic Fund, which distributes between 2 million USD and 5 million USD every year.
Tailored health checks for each business to spot legal, operational, and financial issues before they cause trouble.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
The accelerator is designed for established businesses rather than early-stage ideas. To qualify for a spot in the 2026 cohort, applicants must meet specific baselines:
Your business must have at least two years of active operations.
Your company must operate within Nigeria or another Sub-Saharan African country.
You must demonstrate strong market traction, with a minimum annual revenue of 70,000 USD or 100 million Naira.
Cascador gives strong preference to ventures that create a positive social or economic impact in their communities.
Key Deadlines
The application window follows a multi-step timeline. Business owners must complete a short, 15-minute preliminary application before June 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM WAT.
Organisers review these initial submissions on a weekly rolling basis. Shortlisted semifinalists will then receive an invitation to submit a more detailed business package, including financial models and team surveys, which will be due by June 29, 2026. The final program is scheduled to run from August to November 2026.
